New acquisition to consolidate EPIQ Machinery’s industry leader role

EPIQ Machinery, a global equipment manufacturer with their Middle Eastern hub based in Bahrain, has announced plans to acquire the mining and metals operations of Alizent Canada and Alizent USA. This strategic move will create a new entity, EPIQ DIGITAL, dedicated to providing advanced digital operations management solutions to the aluminium industry.

EPIQ DIGITAL’s platform will revolutionise how factories operate by enabling real-time data collection, analysis, and AI-driven operational improvements. By connecting equipment and factories, the solution will enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and improve sustainability. This marks a significant step towards a more sustainable and productive future for the aluminium industry, the company predicts.

“There is great pressure to help decarbonise our industry and to enhance product quality and increase productivity. This acquisition project will both consolidate EPIQ Machinery’s role as an industry leader and help the company reach its ambitious goals,” said EPIQ Machinery chief executive, Éloïse Harvey.

The software developed by EPIQ DIGITAL will offer a comprehensive suite of features, including the integration of advanced technologies like robotics, automation, and AI, standardised communication between machines, predictive maintenance, and tailored modules for specific factory needs. By leveraging these capabilities, factories can streamline their processes, improve product quality, and reduce downtime.

The acquisition of Alizent’s mining and metals operations will further solidify EPIQ Machinery’s position as a global leader in the heavy equipment industry. The company plans to offer integrated solutions combining its material handling systems with EPIQ DIGITAL’s software, providing a comprehensive approach to factory optimisation. Additionally, EPIQ Machinery will leverage its digital transformation team to drive innovation in its equipment and services.

The transaction is expected to close in the last quarter of 2024, subject to customary conditions. On completion, Alizent’s mining and metals teams will join EPIQ Machinery.

“At the close of this transaction, EPIQ Machinery’s international strength will be reaffirmed. Our know-how and our drive to contribute to decarbonising the planet comes in part through local, low carbon footprint aluminium,” said Ms Harvey. “Quebec is a key player and EPIQ Machinery intends to help promote our aluminium throughout the world, thanks to this integrated solution and its world-class equipment.”
