The World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC) has welcomed the Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority (BTEA) as a Destination Partner, strengthening collaboration with the Kingdom following its participation in WTTC’s 26th Global Summit in Valletta, Malta.
BTEA is responsible for developing and promoting Bahrain’s
tourism and exhibitions sectors, working with government bodies, private
businesses and international partners to expand the country’s tourism offering,
improve visitor experiences and enhance its global competitiveness.
Bahrain’s appeal combines more than 5,000 years of history,
including the ancient Dilmun civilisation and three UNESCO World Heritage
Sites, with Gulf hospitality, a vibrant cultural scene and
international-standard events and exhibition venues.
The partnership will provide Bahrain with greater
opportunities to engage with global tourism leaders, policymakers and
international institutions.
It will also give the Kingdom access to WTTC’s research,
data, industry expertise and specialised programmes, supporting efforts to
strengthen its international tourism profile and develop its position as a
destination for leisure, business events and exhibitions.
Gloria Guevara, WTTC President & CEO, said: “We are
delighted to welcome the Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority to the World
Travel & Tourism Council. It was a pleasure to have Her Excellency Minister
Al Sairafi and the Bahraini delegation with us at our Global Summit in
Valletta. Bahrain combines a remarkable heritage with a growing reputation for
world-class events, exhibitions and hospitality, and its commitment to
public-private collaboration is exactly what our sector needs. We look forward
to working closely together to support Bahrain’s sustainable tourism growth and
to strengthen its position on the global tourism map.”
Fatima Al Sairafi, Minister of Tourism and Chairperson of
the Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority, said: “The Kingdom of
Bahrain's membership of the World Travel and Tourism Council marks a step
towards strengthening our presence within the global travel and tourism
industry. It opens broader opportunities to engage with industry leaders,
decision-makers and international institutions, and to draw on global
expertise, data and practices to support the development of the tourism sector
and enhance Bahrain's competitiveness as a tourism destination." -TradeArabia News Service
