Alba makes history as first aluminium smelter to earn BSC 5-Star Rating

INDUSTRIAL NEWS

Aluminium Bahrain (Alba) has become the first aluminium smelter in the world to achieve the British Safety Council (BSC) 5-Star certification in the past five years, stated Alba’s Chief Executive Officer, Ali Al Baqali.

Delivering his keynote presentation ‘Setting the Global Benchmark’ at the 26th Arab International Aluminium Conference (ARABAL) hosted by Emirates Global Aluminium in Dubai, Al Baqali said: “This 5-Star certification is more than a badge, it’s a reflection of our people, our culture and our purpose. At Alba, safety is not just a protocol; it’s a mindset that drives everything we do. This recognition belongs to every Albawee.”

ARABAL, which opened on November 4, will run till November 6.

During his presentation, Al Baqali outlined the key drivers behind Alba’s leap from a 4-Star to a 5-Star rating crediting the collaborative spirit across all teams. He also celebrated another safety milestone: Alba’s 9th consecutive summer with zero heat-related injuries and illnesses - a tremendous feat considering the intense heat of the aluminium production process and the exceptionally high summer temperatures in Bahrain, he said.

Al Baqali led Alba’s delegation to ARABAL and joined other industry leaders as part of Conference executive panel discussions to share insights on industry challenges and opportunities. Alba’s Senior Manager, Recruitment and Labour Affairs, Rawdha Salman Alaradi was also a panelist on ‘Women in Industry’ session, where she put the spotlight on Alba’s initiatives to empower its female employees and promote gender diversity in the sector. - TradeArabia News Service
