Alba, the world’s largest single-site aluminum smelter, has announced the promotion of two Bahraini nationals, Hussain Al Halwachi and Abdulrahman Almulla, to key leadership positions.
These promotions underscore Alba’s commitment to developing its Bahraini workforce through internal talent development and leadership building programmes.
Mr Al Halwachi has been promoted to acting manager of research and development.
A highly accomplished senior chemist with 27 years of experience in industrial laboratories and metallurgy, Mr Al Halwachi currently heads the main laboratory at Customer Technical Support (CTS), where he has achieved significant milestones, including ranking the Alba Lab among the top 10 globally for carbon analysis.
He holds an MBA with highest honours from FABS-ESSEC University and is a PhD candidate.
Mr Al Halwachi is also the vice-president of the Bahrain Society of Chemists and Financial Secretary of the Gulf Chemists Union.
Mr Almulla has been promoted to acting environmental, social and governance (ESG) manager.
An MBA graduate from the College of William and Mary, Mr Almulla is a sustainability-focused product specialist and engineer at Alba. He has played a key role in developing and launching Alba’s first low-carbon aluminum products and has championed sustainability initiatives, including the development of an in-house dross recycling process. His expertise also includes business development, product quality control, and team leadership.
