A major co-operation agreement has been signed between King Hamad American Mission Hospital (KHAMH) and the Mayo Clinic Care Network (MCCN).
The partnership is expected to integrate KHAMH into the global MCCN based in Rochester, Minnesota in the US, and provide access to expertise, resources, consultations and training.
The agreement was signed between AMH corporate chief executive and chief medical officer Dr George Cheriyan and Mayo Clinic Global Consulting medical director Dr Brian Costello at the KHAMH auditorium in Aâali yesterday.
Attending the signing ceremony were Supreme Council for Health chairman Lieutenant General Dr Shaikh Mohammed bin Abdulla Al Khalifa, Health Ministry Under-Secretary Dr Lulwa Showaiter and other dignitaries.
The ultra-modern, state-of-the-art facility becomes the first healthcare institution in Bahrain to join the elite network which comprises carefully selected organisations granted special access to Mayo Clinicâs world-renowned expertise.
âWe are proud to join the elite group of hospitals that form the Mayo Clinic Care Network,â said Dr Cheriyan.
âBy being vetted to join this prestigious set as its 15th international member, we are looking forward to a future where expert care of world standards can be offered to the people of Bahrain,â he added.
âWe are pleased to welcome King Hamad American Mission Hospital to the Mayo Clinic Care Network,â said Mayo Clinic executive medical director of academic affairs and the Europe, Middle East, India and Africa regions, Mohamad Bydon.
âAs we have worked together toward this day, it is clear that both organisations share similar values and a commitment to providing high-quality, patient-centred care. We look forward to collaborating in ways that enhance that care.â
Through the membership of the MCCN, physicians at KHAMH can readily access Mayo Clinicâs clinical tools and services alongside Mayoâs extensive experience, knowledge and sub-specialty expertise to support clinical, operational and business goals.
The network connects independent health systems with Mayo Clinicâs knowledgeable base.
âThis collaboration helps members improve patient care, enhance their reputation, and expand their services without requiring patients to travel far,â stated a Mayo spokesperson.
KHAMH and other MCCN members remain independent. Created in 2011, the network has 45 member organisations across the Middle East, the US, Asia, India and Mexico.
Opened on January 26, 2023 KHAMH, Aâali, became the newest, fifth and largest of the facilities of AMH. The other four facilities are in Manama, Saar, Riffa and Amwaj.
AMH is a private, not-for-profit hospital, established in 1903, by the Arabian Mission of the Reformed Church in America, and has been serving Bahrain for more than 120 years.
Its mission is to provide high-quality healthcare at an affordable cost based on the biblical principles of compassion, grace and love.
Mayo Clinic has been rated as the Worldâs No 1 hospital for seven years consecutively by the Newsweek-Statista surveys of the worldâs best hospitals. It was established in 1889. With more than 76,000 staff members, it provides expert and compassionate care to more than 1.3 million patients from within the US and from 130 countries each year.
