The Chalwyn diesel engine spark arrestor prevents the risk of fire from the ignition of flammable material caused by spark emission from the exhaust and can replace existing silencers. Exhaust connection pipe sizes up to 10-inch are offered in the newly extended range. Previously only available for engines up to 400hp these quenching type units have a cyclonic design with glowing particles from diesel exhaust spun and repeatedly impacted against the internal spark arrestor surfaces. AFTER a 5 per cent drop last year the valve industry appears to have stabilised and will probably see some minor growth this year according to the Valve Manufacturers Association (VMA). The association s annual forecast for valve shipments in the US and Canada predicted total industrial valve shipments for 2010 will be 3.855 billion which is slightly higher than the 3.802 billion in 2009 shipments. Between 2009 and 2008 the industry saw its first decline for the decade; however compared to other manufacturing industries the fall was not as severe. The decline of last year followed almost 10 years of steady upward movement from about 3.1 billion in 2001 to the high in 2008 of about 4.0 billion. IRAQI Oil ministry officials are expect to sign a contract soon to build eight of 30 planned oil storage tanks in Basra the director general of the State Company for Oil Projects said. The new oil storage facility will be built on the site of a previous facility of 16 storage tanks destroyed during the Iran-Iraq war Ahmed al-Shamma said. Those tanks were never rebuilt. The new project which will be completed over a several-year period will more than double the previous storage capacity. Officials are negotiating with a foreign company to build the eight storage tanks al-Shamma said declining to name the company name or the country where it is based. A contract to build eight more tanks will be awarded in 2005 he said. It has to be a foreign company because we need a foreign supplier of materials al-Shamma said. I would not rule out that there will be a new record but I cannot guarantee it before we have the final figures on the table Johannes Kjoede a chief engineer at the Norwegian Petroleum Directorate said.
