HUISMAN the Dutch specialist in heavy lifting pipelay and drilling equipment has designed and manufactured the drilling tower and related pipe riser and blowout preventer (BOP) handling equipment for the first Shell/Frontier Bully drill ship which was recently shipped from the Huisman quay in Schiedam to the Keppel Shipyard in Singapore. Delivery of the equipment is in line with the delivery schedule of the new build Bully 1 vessel at Keppel Shipyard. Industrial Flow Control Ltd has supplied 350 000 (around 700 000) of equipment for a new multi million pound natural gas plant being built in the Republic of Yemen. Yemgas is building a new LNG (liquified natural gas) plant in the south eastern port of Balhaf. Yemgas is made up of a consortium of companies - including Technip and MW Kelloggs. This consortium urged IFC to quote for the design and supply of equipment including diesel fuelling and tanker/ marine offloading equipment. GE s Oil & Gas business will supply eight compressors and a steam turbine power generation set for the expansion of Emirates National Oil Company (Enoc) condensate refinery at Jebel Ali near Dubai in the UAE. When the expansion project is completed by the end of this year the output of the existing units at the refinery would be sustained at 120 000 barrels per day of distillates. The upgrade would enable the refinery to produce high grade reformate. The engineering procurement and construction (EPC) contractor for the project is Foster Wheeler London UK. Work by the CSIRO Minerals team in Australia to analyse oil rig wastewaters has demonstrated the robustness of Malvern s Mastersizer design and the breadth of applications for which this family of particle size analyzers can be used. The work was carried out on a platform 130 km out at sea using a Mastersizer which had been transported directly to the site. Despite the rigours of transportation alignment of the unit had barely changed and it was ready for use in a matter of minutes. The Mastersizer was used to perform particle analysis on waste waters to help identify the most effective treatment before disposal. Analysis had to be conducted on site as the samples contained oil droplets that coalesced or creamed out within minutes which would change the nature of the sample irreversibly.
