The Labour Fund (Tamkeen) has signed an agreement with Generac Juffali Generators to support the establishment of a specialised diesel generator assembly and manufacturing facility in Bahrain, with an annual production capacity of up to 250 units.

The agreement was signed on the sidelines of Gateway Gulf 2026 and aims to strengthen the Kingdom’s local manufacturing capabilities, attract foreign investment and create specialised employment opportunities for Bahraini nationals.

The project will combine the technical expertise of Generac Holdings, a global provider of backup power solutions and generator systems, with the regional presence of Saudi Arabia’s Juffali Group, which operates across several sectors, including industry, energy, infrastructure and transportation.

The planned facility is expected to enhance Bahrain’s industrial capabilities and position the Kingdom as a manufacturing and supply hub serving regional markets. It will also facilitate the transfer of specialised technical knowledge and industrial expertise to Bahrain.

As part of the project, Generac Juffali Generators has invested in developing local talent, providing specialised training in Italy for eight Bahraini employees in manufacturing and operations, with support from Tamkeen.

The training programme aims to equip participants with advanced technical skills and operational expertise to support the facility’s activities and contribute to the development of Bahrain’s industrial workforce.

Tamkeen said the agreement forms part of its efforts to build strategic partnerships with leading regional and international companies to develop priority economic sectors, strengthen private-sector competitiveness and generate quality employment opportunities.

The initiative also aligns with Tamkeen’s 2026 strategic priorities, which focus on supporting projects with significant economic impact, matching workforce skills with labour market requirements and encouraging investment and business expansion.

Through the partnership, Tamkeen aims to support the growth of Bahrain’s manufacturing sector while strengthening the capabilities of national talent and contributing to sustainable economic development.

Maha Mofeez, Chief Executive of the Labour Fund (Tamkeen), stated: “This project represents a model of the initiatives that Tamkeen seeks to support, given their contribution to driving growth across priority economic sectors. The manufacturing sector is a vital pillar of the national economy, playing a pivotal role in enhancing productivity, generating added value, and supporting economic diversification. This initiative also demonstrates the importance of investments that combine international expertise with the development of Bahraini talent, facilitating the transfer of specialised industrial knowledge and enhancing the readiness of national talent to participate in advanced manufacturing industries.”

She added: “Through these strategic partnerships, we remain committed to supporting projects that create quality employment opportunities for Bahrainis, develop their expertise and skills, strengthen the competitiveness of the national economy, and reinforce the private sector’s contribution to sustainable economic development.”

Paolo Campinoti, President of Development at Generac, welcomed this partnership, describing it as an important step in the company’s journey to strengthen its regional presence and expand the scope of its collaboration across the region.

He noted that the project reflects confidence in the Kingdom’s promising potential and supportive business environment, while also embodying the partners’ commitment to building a long-term collaboration that creates added value and supports industrial and economic growth in Bahrain and the wider region. -TradeArabia News Service
