Oman Airports Management Company and RESQTEC have signed an agreement to establish a specialist training framework for the recovery and removal of disabled aircraft at Muscat International Airport, strengthening operational preparedness and aviation safety.
The partnership will introduce long-term theoretical and
practical training programmes for participants from airports, airlines and
specialist organisations worldwide, equipping them with the skills and
expertise needed to respond safely to aircraft incidents that could disrupt
airport operations.
A disabled aircraft obstructing a runway, taxiway or other
operational area can significantly affect airport operations and air traffic
flow.
Effective recovery requires specialised equipment, trained
personnel, clear responsibilities and coordinated response procedures.
Under the agreement, Oman Airports will provide training
facilities, suitable aircraft, recovery equipment and local operational
support.
RESQTEC will contribute specialist training programmes,
instructors and course materials, while overseeing training quality based on
its international experience in aircraft recovery.
The programmes will combine classroom-based learning with
practical exercises using aircraft and recovery equipment in a controlled
environment.
Participants will receive training in recovery planning,
equipment operation and team coordination to strengthen their ability to manage
disabled aircraft incidents.
"Readiness for disabled aircraft recovery and removal
depends on people being able to plan, coordinate and use their equipment
effectively," said Dennis Beck, Global Sales Director at RESQTEC.
"Through our partnership with Oman Airports, we are bringing together the
facilities, equipment and specialist knowledge needed to develop these skills.
We look forward to welcoming recovery professionals to Muscat and helping their
organisations strengthen operational readiness."
The agreement also establishes a framework for developing
Oman Airports employees as qualified instructors.
Participants will receive training, supervision and
assessment from RESQTEC, supporting knowledge transfer and the development of
local expertise in aircraft recovery.
"This partnership reflects our commitment to
strengthening operational readiness and upholding the highest safety standards
across our airports. Responding to disabled aircraft requires advance
preparation, qualified personnel and effective coordination among the
organisations involved. By bringing together our facilities and operational
experience with RESQTEC's specialist expertise, we aim to develop our teams'
capabilities and share knowledge with specialists from around the world. This
will support safe operations and help minimize the impact of such incidents on
air traffic flow and the continuity of airport operations," said Saud Al
Hubaishi, Chief Operating Officer at Oman Airports.
The partnership reflects both organisations' commitment to
strengthening aviation safety, improving operational resilience and promoting
international knowledge sharing across the airport sector.
Oman Airports and RESQTEC will jointly announce details of upcoming training courses in Muscat and registration arrangements. -TradeArabia News Service
