Bahrain’s national non-oil exports drop 56% to $406.4m in August

Bahrain’s non-oil exports of national origin dropped by 56% to reach BD153 million ($406.4 million) in August 2026, compared to BD350 million for same month in 2025. 

The top 10 countries in exports (National Origin) accounted for 78% of the exports (National Origin) value, according to the Information & eGovernment Authority (iGA), which has released its August 2026 Foreign Trade report.

Saudi Arabia ranked first among countries for the non-oil exports (National Origin) with BD50 million (33%). The US was second with BD19 million (12.4%) and the UAE third with BD18 million (11.8%). 

Top exported products

Unwrought aluminium alloys were the top product exported in August 2026 with BD42 million (27%), followed by aluminium wire alloyed BD16 million (10%) and aluminium wire not alloyed with BD13 million (8%).

The total value of non-oil re-exports decreased by 28% to reach BD46 million during August 2026, compared to BD64 million for same month in 2025. The top 10 countries in re-exports accounted for 84% of the re-exported value. The UAE ranked first with BD16 million (35%) followed by Saudi Arabia with BD8 million (18%) and the US with BD4 million (9%).

As per the report, gold ingots worth BD8 million (17%) was the top product re-exported from Bahrain, followed by turbo-propellers worth BD3.8 million (8.3%), and other parts of aircraft came third with BD3.7 million (8.02%).

Non-oil imports down

As per the report, the value of non-oil imports decreased by 16% reaching to BD409 million in August 2026 in comparison with BD489 million for same month in 2025. The top 10 countries for imports recorded 68% of the total value of imports.

According to the report, China ranked first for imports by Bahrain, with a total of BD72 million (18%), followed by UAE with BD44 million (11%) and Saudi Arabia with 42 million (10%).

Other aluminium oxide valued at BD28 million (7%) was the top product imported to Bahrain, followed by turbo-jets with BD15 million (4%) and private cars with BD14 million (3%).

As for the trade balance, which represents the difference between exports and imports, the trade deficit soared to BD210 million in August 2026 compared to BD75 million in August 2025.—TradeArabia News Service
