Gulf Air, the national carrier of Bahrain, is expanding its onboard connectivity programme with five additional Airbus A320neo family aircraft equipped with Starlink, the satellite internet service operated by SpaceX.
The latest deployment brings the total number of
Starlink-equipped Gulf Air aircraft to six, with 75% of its A320neo fleet now
fitted with the technology.
The airline expects the expanded connectivity to cover
around 1,000 flights per month across its regional network.
Passengers on Starlink-equipped flights can access
complimentary high-speed internet from boarding through arrival, enabling
streaming, video calls, social media, cloud applications and email across
multiple devices.
The service’s low latency is designed to provide an
experience comparable to home broadband while flying at 35,000 feet.
Powered by Starlink’s low Earth orbit satellite network, the
technology is intended to provide reliable connectivity throughout the journey,
allowing passengers to remain connected and access digital services and
entertainment in the air.
The rollout forms part of Gulf Air’s wider fleet
modernisation and digital transformation strategy, aimed at enhancing the
passenger experience through new technology and upgraded services.
Gulf Air said it will continue the phased installation of Starlink across its fleet in the coming months, supporting its goal of delivering enhanced connectivity throughout the customer journey, from booking to arrival. -TradeArabia News Service
