Oman's Public Establishment for Industrial Estates (Madayn) has announced that its Suhar Industrial City has attracted more than RO214 million ($555 million) in investment commitments during the first half with 39 contracts signed for projects covering more than 1.1 million sq m area.
The contracts included 22 new projects, 12 expansions, four substitutions as well as a renewal.
Madayn said it is currently implementing several development projects at Suhar Industrial City, including a consultancy study for the rehabilitation of existing infrastructure and supporting services across Phases 1 to 6, as well as the completion of infrastructure works for Phase 7.
The Omani industrial estates operator also plans to implement a number of strategic projects under the 11th Five-Year Development Plan (2026–2030). These include a comprehensive infrastructure rehabilitation and service modernisation programme, the construction of integrated service facilities and buildings to support the management and operation of the industrial city as well as completion of consultancy services for the Integrated Aluminium Economic Cluster.
These are mainly aimed at boosting industrial value chains, and continued investment promotion campaigns to attract projects to Ladayn Polymer Park.
The park has witnessed strong growth in recent years, driven by rising local and regional demand for plastic products and supported by the attractive investment environment provided by Madayn.
"The city, operated by Madayn, has cumulative investments of more than RO2.3 billion ($5.96 billion)," remarked Director General Abdullah bin Ahmed Al Mayasi.
The city has leased 16.3 million sq m of its 19.9 million sq m of developed land and hosts 497 localised projects employing about 12,671 workers, it stated.
A key highlight of the H1 deals was the signing of an investment contract with Fujian Mansheng Industrial Investment Company to establish a ceramic manufacturing plant valued at RO25 million as one of the city’s landmark projects.
"This project will be developed over an area of 241,000 sqm and will feature three production lines, each with a daily production capacity of 30,000 sqm, bringing the total capacity to 90,000 sqm per day upon full operation," stated Al Mayasi.
The factory will commence operations with an initial production capacity of 60,000 sq m per day, he added.

About 25% of the plant's output is likely to be sold in Oman, with the remaining 75% exported to Gulf countries and neighbouring markets. The project is expected to create 500 to 600 jobs, including more than 150 for Omani nationals.
According to Madayn, the Suhar Industrial City is also developing a 93MW renewable energy project aimed at supplying investors with competitively priced clean power and strengthening the city's clean energy distribution network.
The project is expected to reduce carbon dioxide emissions and natural gas consumption while helping factories meet international environmental standards and improve their export competitiveness, it added.-TradeArabia News Service
