Georgia is becoming an increasingly popular destination for travellers from the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), with visitor numbers from the region continuing to grow.
The country recorded 145,513 visits from GCC countries in
2025, marking a 3.4% increase compared with the previous year.
According to the Georgian National Tourism Administration
(GNTA), Georgia welcomed 7.8 million international tourists in 2025, with Gulf travellers
emerging as an important growth market for the country’s tourism sector.
Industry experts attribute the rise in GCC demand to
Georgia’s accessibility, affordability, and diverse travel experiences.
Located around a four-hour flight from major Gulf hubs,
Georgia offers a convenient short-haul option for leisure and family holidays.
GCC nationals also benefit from visa-free entry and
simplified e-visa procedures, making travel more accessible.
The destination’s value proposition is another key
attraction, with Georgia estimated to provide 30-40% greater value compared
with similar European destinations.
Travellers can enjoy a range of experiences, from coastal
escapes in Batumi and mountain retreats in Gudauri and Svaneti to wine tourism
in the Kakheti region.
The GNTA said its Middle East strategy focuses on
highlighting Georgia’s mix of nature, culture, and family-friendly experiences
while positioning the country as a preferred destination for GCC visitors.
The administration has also been working with regional
travel agencies to create tailored packages combining luxury stays, cultural
activities, and outdoor adventures.
Georgia’s tourism infrastructure is expanding alongside
rising demand.
Tbilisi was recently ranked as the world’s second-most
trending destination for 2026 by Tripadvisor, while more than 300 new hotels,
including international brands, are expected to open across the country by 2028
in key destinations such as Tbilisi, Batumi, and Sighnaghi.
For GCC travel companies, hospitality groups, and investors,
Georgia’s growing popularity presents opportunities to develop customised
itineraries, premium travel packages, and new partnerships.
With improving connectivity and expanding tourism facilities, the Gulf market is expected to become an increasingly important part of Georgia’s tourism growth strategy. -TradeArabia News Service
