Neo Space Group (NSG), a Public Investment Fund (PIF) company and Saudi Arabia's commercial space services provider, has deployed three advanced satellite ground gateway systems with Hughes Network Systems to enhance next-generation in-flight connectivity services.

The gateways, located in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia; Sintra, Portugal; and the Canary Islands, will support NSG SATCOM services by improving coverage, redundancy and network scalability across the Middle East, Europe, Africa and parts of Asia.

The project aligns with Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030 ambition to strengthen its position as a regional hub for space-enabled technologies.

The deployment forms part of NSG's aviation connectivity strategy, including its NSG Skywaves platform, enabling airlines to offer faster broadband, uninterrupted passenger connectivity and improved onboard digital services.

Initial flight testing recorded broadband speeds exceeding 100 Mbps, with peak performance reaching approximately 200 Mbps.

The new gateway architecture also enables dynamic capacity allocation and seamless roaming across coverage zones, supporting reliable connectivity for airlines operating international and regional fleets.

Ramesh Ramaswamy, Executive Vice President at Hughes Network Systems, said: “Through our collaboration with Neo Space Group, we are enabling a robust regional network powered by NSG SATCOM, designed to deliver reliable, high-capacity connectivity across key global aviation routes. This reflects our continued commitment to advancing satellite-enabled mobility solutions worldwide”.

Tarek El Mitwalli, Executive Vice President of Aviation at Neo Space Group, said: “This deployment represents another important milestone in NSG’s journey to redefine aviation connectivity through sovereign, integrated, and future-ready infrastructure. By combining NSG’s satellite assets with advanced ground systems and global technology partnerships, we are building a resilient, high-performance platform through NSG Skywaves®, designed to meet the evolving needs of airlines and passengers. As demand for seamless connectivity continues to grow, NSG is well-positioned to deliver next-generation solutions at scale.” -TradeArabia News Service
