Qatar Airways suspends flights amid airspace closure; Qatar extends entry visas

CONSUMER NEWS

Qatar Airways announced on March 3 that its flight operations remain temporarily suspended due to the closure of Qatari airspace.

The airline stated that flights will resume once the Qatar Civil Aviation Authority confirms the safe reopening. Passengers are advised to stay updated via the airline’s website or mobile app.

Meanwhile, Qatar’s Ministry of Interior has extended all types of entry visas that have expired or are near expiration by one month, effective February 28, 2026.

The extension will be automatic, processed electronically without fees, and does not require applicants to visit government offices or submit new applications.

This measure applies to all visa categories and aims to maintain residents’ and visitors’ legal status amid changing conditions.

Visa holders with prior violations must first settle any fines before the extension and associated fee exemptions take effect.

Authorities emphasised that they will continue to monitor the situation and implement additional measures as needed to ensure stability and compliance during this period.

This approach reflects Qatar’s effort to manage air travel disruptions and visa-related challenges efficiently, prioritising safety while minimising administrative burdens on residents and travellers. -TradeArabia News Service
