Amal Janahi named Alwane Bahrain Society chairperson

Alwane Bahrain Society has announced the formation of its new board of directors for the 2025-27 term, with Amal Janahi as its new chairperson, succeeding Ammar Awachi.

The new board, which includes Aliya bin Rajab, Murtadha Al Mutawa, Nader Al Ansari, Iman Omar, Dr Jihan Imam and Yasmin Mufeed, brings together a diverse group of members whose combined expertise will support the Society’s arts-focused and administrative objectives.

The Board convened its first organisational meeting, during which members reviewed the Society’s strategic vision for the coming period. 

The discussions focused on launching innovative arts-focused programmes and initiatives, expanding the Society’s membership base, strengthening partnerships with local and international cultural institutions and establishing a timeline for implementing major upcoming events and exhibitions, said a statement from Alwane Bahrain Society.

The newly appointed Board conveyed its sincere appreciation to Awachi for his dedicated service and influential leadership since the Society’s establishment 15 years ago. 

The Board also commended his meaningful contributions to Bahrain’s cultural landscape and extended its best wishes for continued success in his future endeavours.

Lauding the new members, Awachi said: "Alwane Bahrain is entering an important new phase under capable and confident leadership and praised the depth of expertise represented within the new board, led by Amal Janahi."

He expressed full confidence in its ability to advance the Society’s mission and contribute meaningfully to the cultural and creative landscape of the Kingdom.

On her appointment, Janahi said: "I am deeply grateful for the trust placed in me by the Society’s members. The coming stage will require a collective effort and a strong spirit of teamwork to serve the art movement in Bahrain."

The Board is committed to building upon the achievements of the previous administration and to working diligently in support of the Society’s goals, she stated. 

It will also focus on enriching the cultural landscape locally and regionally through the adoption of creative projects that reflect the artistic diversity found within the kingdom, she added.-TradeArabia News Service
