SUNGROW: Poised for unprecedented growth and a bright, sunny future

INDUSTRIAL NEWS

Award-winning Sungrow Power Supply Company (Sungrow) is a prominent, global leader in renewable energy technology and solutions, while being both a pioneer and front-runner in sustainable power solutions. This flag-bearer company operates in 100+ countries worldwide. Sungrow unfurled two rigorously tested PV and ESS next-generation solutions at its recent Dubai summit.

Sungrow, the international rapidly growing renewable energy titan, remains committed to delivering superior, dependable competitive products, which meet high, superior quality standards and safety criteria, accelerating the integration of renewable energy across the MEA region

The visionary company prides itself in its solar Photovoltaic (PV) inverter manufacturing capabilities and an unrivalled track record that lists the installation of 740GW of power electronic converters worldwide as of December 2024. Given the changing dynamics of the Energy Storage business, and the resetting of priorities and emphases, Sungrow’s business focus is slated to be gradually realigning towards energy storage.

Sungrow is also taking rapid strides in the critical and highly-sought-after ESS (Energy Storage System) arena, a mechanism that captures and stores energy (often electricity) from various sources, such as renewable power or the grid, to be released and used later.

ESSs provide indispensable services like ensuring a stable energy supply, balancing grid load, and enabling greater use of intermittent renewable sources like solar and wind power.

The company, headquartered in Hefei, the capital of China’s Eastern Anhui province, publicly trades on the Shenzhen Stock Exchange.

Sungrow is the brainchild of a founding team with a deep technical background and with roots in academia. Sungrow, the acknowledged leader in renewable energy technology, has pioneered sustainable power solutions since its inception 28 years ago.

Accomplishments

As of December 2024, Sungrow has installed 740 GW of power electronic converters worldwide. The company is recognised as the world's Number One producer of PV inverter shipments (S&P Global Commodity Insights) and the world's most bankable energy storage company (BloombergNEF).

To commemorate its impressive performance in Middle East Africa (MEA) region, one of the fastest growing geographies worldwide, and to highlight its growth plans for the future, Sungrow recently hosted the company’s debut MEA PV & ESS Summit 2025 (Photovoltaic and Energy Storage System) in Dubai, launching its latest customized innovations and sophisticated inventions designed for greater efficiency, operability, capability and able to withstand the region's harsh torrid climate.

The ‘Illuminating the Future of Energy’ Summit staged at Dubai’s Grand Hyatt Convention and Conference Centre marked Sungrow's first brand foray and promotion event in the Middle East market. This first-of-its-kind summit was well attended and attracted over 300 professional partners, associates, and the media from the region and beyond.

Renewable energy integration

“The Middle East Africa, MEA, is rapidly advancing its power infrastructure to manage growing renewable energy integration,” affirmed Anoop Koothor, Technical Director, PV and ESS, MEA Region, Sungrow, speaking exclusively to Trade Arabia on the sidelines of the summit.

“As solar and wind generation surges, advanced technologies such as microgrids, BMS (Battery Management System), and digital substations are being deployed to maintain flexibility and stability. Within this dynamic context, grid-forming technology is emerging as a critical enabler of resilient, renewables-rich power systems,” he continued.

Gaining momentum

In recent years, the renewable energy market in the Middle East has continued to gain momentum, becoming an important target market for PV and ESS companies. Since Saudi Arabia launched its National Renewable Energy Program (NREP) in 2016, the potential of the Middle East’s PV and ESS market has drawn significant attention. As a global leader in renewable energy technology, Sungrow has pioneered sustainable power solutions for over 28 years.

The company has fared phenomenally since it first emerged in the region seven years ago. “In 2018, Sungrow established its first office in Dubai. At present, Sungrow has set up six offices in the region - Dubai, UAE; Cape Town, South Africa; Riyadh, Saudi Arabia; Amman, Jordan and in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.

“Sungrow has 14 warehouses and has appointed over 20 authorized partners in the Middle East and Africa region alone, with multiple successful projects already implemented across the Middle East, such as the 2.2GWac NEOM Green Hydrogen project and the 2.1GW AI Shuaibah Project, both in Saudi Arabia,” explained spokesperson from Sungrow.

Sungrow is now poised to illumine the future of energy, through ingenuity, innovations and strategic growth plans.

Expertise and experience

“Our advantages and USPs lie in the fact that we are an OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) with extensive expertise and experience to our brand name. This is what sets us apart. We are a pioneering, innovative, company with a rock-solid reputation for dependability and performance. We have carefully vetted growth plans that will ensure our identity and enable us stay in the industry frontlines in the foreseeable future,” noted Kothoor.

The MEA region has promise and potential for exponential growth and is among the fastest growing regions in the world for Sungrow. “This region is very significant for Sungrow and we are upbeat and optimistic about our future here,” Sungrow spokesperson stressed.

“Furthermore, we in this part of the world we enjoy an abundance of sunlight and solar resources which puts us in a position of preeminence in this region,” observed Kothoor.

More recently, ACWA Power, a Saudi Arabian company, has partnered with China's Sungrow Renewables on renewable energy projects, including a joint operation of 132MW solar assets in China and the supply of a significant energy storage system for the NEOM green hydrogen project in Saudi Arabia.
